On defeatist attitudes.
I understand that there are a lot of variables that can change the trajectory of one’s whole life. Trust me, I get it more than you know. As a law school grad, there is almost no better example than the fragility of your entire legal career, which can be entirely thrown off based on a single grade from a single test during a single semester. But if you let all those thoughts bring you down, you...

That's not why.
So have you seen that show Ready For Love? Maybe not, considering it was cancelled after only two episodes. But as a lover of love and all shows about it, I thought it was a fantastic twist on the typical reality dating game. On the show, 3 matchmakers/love “experts” each pick out 4 girls for 1 guy, and throughout the show they coach their girls on how to get the guy.
One of the matchmakers,...

On making changes. Going places.
It’s all up to you. But that’s what is so incredible about life. We have all been given a gift, and we get to do whatever we want with it. Of course, there will always be things out of our control. But whatever you want, whatever it is that you want to become, you can. If you want to be awesome, successful, rich—you can be. And you can be happy, individual and apart from any...

Just hold on.
“She asks me if its hard not drinking, I tell her it’s miserable, that I spend a lot of my time crying, that sometimes I feel like I want to die. She asks me how I deal with it, I tell her I always know that at some point I will feel better and if I am patient and hold on, that point will come.” - My Friend Leonard, p. 161.
This quote came from a guy who was struggling to stay sober, but I...

End of life?
Why is it that in all chick flicks/rom coms/disney movies/whatever other embarrassing film genre everyone secretly watches ALWAYS ends when the couple gets married? What does that say about marriage? The end of anything entertaining enough to put in a crappy movie?

So...what now?
Law school and the Bar and all of that is officially over. Though I have a panic attack every day and knock on wood a million times, praying that I have passed the Bar and I don’t have to take that awful, awful thing again, it’s weird. I don’t have something hanging over my head every moment, like I did for the last 3.5 years. I don’t have to force myself to do schoolwork...

Sorry again.
It’s been a flurry since I finished the bar, and today I am off to Southeast Asia to get out all that anxiety from the last 2 1/2 months of studying. I’ll post from there if I can, otherwise you can just imagine me riding on an elephant, or sipping fruity drinks on the beach, or getting hourly massages. Really, any of those will do.

Things I will miss about law school
While I have been gently studying for my ethics exam, I have also been thinking about things I’m really going to miss about law school. Check it:
Free pizza. Every. Single. Day.
Free beer sponsored by the Bar Preps every month
Free wine and hors d’oeuvres at the fancy events (and taking the leftover bottles home when you are responsible for said events)
Free snacks and candy to...

Don't miss the coolest event of the year
Or at least of April.
If you live in the New York area, on April 15th at Brooklyn Law School, my clinic is holding our first annual “Legal Hackathon,” featuring a panel of amazing speakers including Art Chang from Tipping Point Partners, Tim Wu of Slate Magazine (and Columbia Law), and several others.
YOU ARE ALL INVITED!
We’ll also be having a real “hackathon”...
